We’re not designers. We’re collectors. The inspiration behind Collected by Sasha came from our own joy of shopping when we travel. Beyond visiting restaurants and historical sightings we started seeking out small businesses and designers along our travels.. We then took it one step further and visited artisans who are the masterminds behind their crafts. Our goal is to showcase their crafts and connect you to them through these pieces. 

It’s obvious that India has a rich culture and that too one that goes beyond language, film, and food. With its vibrant colors, ancient architecture and unique instruments it’s hard to ignore the presence of art fabricated through the country. For us fashion connects us to our culture. We are fascinated by the detailed embroidery, rich prints, and bright color details of textiles. While Western fashion magnifies structure, comfort, and neutral palettes, South Asian fashion highlights the opposite. It forces us to yell, shout, and scream our personalities through the clothes we wear.

When one first thinks of traditional Indian attire: lehengas, saris, and salwars probably come to mind. The techniques within these are what catch our eye. Techniques such as block print, chikankari, ajrak, bandini, and more are what make Indian attire so mesmerizing.  The best part is that these techniques have been around for hundreds of years, born from the diverse regions that make up the country. The history behind each technique comes from factors like regional raw materials, western influences, colonization, local societal norms and more. We are here to bring these techniques to you in a modern way, to make sure the history lives on through the clothes.

We as collected by Sasha hope to share that clothes are much more than just a piece of fabric you put on your body.
